Kira Hughes is the Managing Director of the Coral Resilience Lab at the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology. This includes conducting research, grant writing and administration, engaging stakeholders, establishing and maintaining partnerships, and communicating science. She aims to transform research into solutions through conservation, restoration, and resource management. Being raised in Hawaiʻi, she is particularly concerned about the future of local coral reefs. One of her priorities is to engage K-12 students and the general public in conservation issues now to establish a lasting impact on marine resource management.
