Dr. Himmat Singh Negi is a retired Indian Forest Service Officer who has spent more than three decades in Biodiversity Conservation, specifically in the field of Tiger Conservation and related conflict mitigation. He was inducted into the Indian Forest Service in the year 1988. After completing his forestry training at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun, he completed a Wildlife Diploma Course from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. He has worked in several internationally recognized tiger reserves, such as Kanha Tiger Reserve, for about fifteen years, in addition to other Protected Areas of Madhya Pradesh. He has experience working as Inspector General of Forests, National Tiger Conservation Authority, Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi for seven years. Himmat Singh Negi recieved his M.Sc. from the Punjab University in Chandigarh, India and completed a Ph.D. thesis in botany at the Dr. Hari Singh Gour University in 2004.
