Cesária Victória Huó was born and raised in Maputo, Mozambique, where she developed a passion for nature from an early age. This passion led her to pursue a career in biology. She holds a degree in biology teaching from the Pedagogical University of Maputo. During her studies, conservation biology emerged as one of her favorite areas, and a pivotal moment came after participating in a workshop on conservation biology in Gorongosa National Park. This solidified her desire to focus on biodiversity conservation, particularly in Mozambique.
Cesária later earned a master’s degree in conservation biology from the BioEducation Consortium, based in Gorongosa National Park. As an emerging scientist, she has dedicated the early phase of her academic career to studying bats. Her goal is to enhance knowledge, raise awareness, and promote the conservation of these ecologically significant yet poorly understood mammals. Looking ahead, one of her key research interests lies in evaluating ecosystem services, striving to create stronger links between human and economic development and nature conservation.
