Beaches across Florida are a key habitat for nesting sea turtles, like greens, loggerheads, and leatherbacks. To keep hatchlings safe, teams patrol the beach at dawn to look for turtle tracks, safeguard nests, and even help those left behind make their way to the sea.
The efforts are paying off — since putting these protections in place, the number of nests counted across Florida has risen from a low of 27,000 to now over 150,000!
