Piotr Naskrecki is an entomologist, conservation biologist, and photographer with 30 years of experience in biodiversity research and exploration in both the academic environment and nonprofit conservation organizations. He received his M.Sc. in zoology from A. Mickiewicz University in Poland and a Ph.D. in entomology from the University of Connecticut.
Currently he directs the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Laboratory in Gorongosa National Park, Mozambique, where he designed and helped create a unique research and education facility that includes a molecular laboratory, biological synaptic collections, and a comprehensive bioinformatics infrastructure. He has also initiated and helped develop an extensive program of biodiversity education for Mozambican students, including Mozambique’s first graduate program leading to an M.Sc. degree in conservation biology, all in the remote wilderness of Gorongosa.
