Hrishita Negi, a Ph.D. candidate at Clemson University, is undertaking her research in the globally recognized tiger landscape of Central India. Her research provides ecological and social insights that will aid in formulating strategies for mitigating human-tiger conflict by syncing in-situ conservation strategies with an inclusive co-occurrence agenda, primarily based on interface planning with a gainful portfolio for local communities through community stewardship. She previously worked with the World Wildlife Fund-India, and as an Assistant Project Coordinator for the Global Tiger Forum. She additionally collaborated as a researcher with RESOLVE to execute a pilot deployment of the TrailGuard AI camera in a tiger range area in 2022 to detect and deliver near real-time images of tigers to researchers and Indian Forest Department officials. This was complemented by capacity building and training of Forest Department frontline staff, as well as raising awareness and sensitization among conflict-affected people through the development of targeted education materials to establish an understanding of initiatives to mitigate human-tiger conflict.
